Samsung has just launched their new SGH-E890 ‘Touch UI’ handset in Singapore last 2 months. An innovative and convenient Touch User Interface(touch screen) combines the keypad and 2.3-inches, 262k color QVGA (240×320) TFT display into one, make the SGH-E890 become a super compact mobile communicator.

The SGH-E890 has no keypad, it provides ‘Touch UI’, and user can use handwriting iput to convey exactly what you want. At a touch, the display turns into a virtual keypad. This handwriting recognition touch screen lets you communicate at the speed of thought.

The SGH-E890 features a Chinese Character recognition which allows you to send an SMS in Mandarin with the Pen Memo, but unfortunately some users complain that the handwriting recognition is not that great, especially for Chinese.

The front has two soft keys, call, end and clear keys, and a 5-way navigation pad which is a very common features for most of the handset in the market.

The onboard 1.3-megapixel digital camera with flash is not impressive, but the pen memo Bluetooth messaging feature and touchscreen games are. The handset comes with an MP3/AAC/WMA music player, TV output, Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR and PictBridge, but only a disappointing USB 1.1.

PictBridge enables you to print out pictures without a PC. And the option of USB 1.1 and Bluetooth™ means you have the choice of transferring your files with cable or without. You can also send the free memo messages via Bluetooth™ to other Bluetooth™ users within your range.

The SGH-E890 comes with onboard 54 MB of phone memory with a microSD/TransFlash memory card slot. It offers almost 4 hours of talk time or 14 days of stand-by (350 hours).
